Hello Scouts and Scouters,

As everyone knows our troop is a very active and fun troop. We get to go do things the boys come up with and they have a lot of fun doing them. If you are a parent that doesn’t see the boys regular meetings I really encourage you to come attend a couple meetings. You are also welcome to attend the committee meetings, you don’t have to be on the committee to do so. These meetings are a great way to learn about what’s happening with the troop, what is expected of your scout, and just generally a way to support him. With that said, I want to thank all the parents who routinely volunteer to take the boys, guide the boys, and run things behind the scenes. Thank you!

Of course we all know this takes money too. And that is why I am sending this note. During the last couple of committee meetings we have been looking at the idea of manning the west bound Sprague Rest Area off of I-90 to offer coffee and goodies. We can’t ‘sell’ them but we can take donations. Art Smalley, our Knights of Columbus rep, said in the past it has been a good way for the Knights to raise money. I think I remember him saying that they have raised as much as $900 to $1,200 in one weekend!!

Of course there is work and commitment to be done. It looks like we would need 12 adults to commit to be at the rest area for shifts of 4-6 hours. I have taken the liberty of reserving the dates of June 29, 30 and July 1st (Fri., Sat., & Sun). This is HOOPFEST weekend. It should bring a lot of traffic on Friday and Sunday. The DOT agreements states we need to commit to 10 hour days of coverage. The troop committee has discussed making it a possible camp out weekend at the near by Sprague camp ground.

I would appreciate it if everyone would look at their calendars and see if you could commit to one or two shifts of coverage. For the parents who haven’t been involved as much as they’d like, I say give it a try. It is really a great feeling just being involved with these good guys and watching them grow and learn. Sorry Scouts, I had to say one mushy thing to encourage your folks. : o )

If you could please respond Yes or No to my email by this Monday, 04-30-12, I would really appreciate it. That way I can let the committee know if we have enough adults to do this.

If anyone has any additional fund raising ideas we’d would love to hear from you.
Thank you,
Jodie

Hello Scouts and Scouters,

It is that time of year again, time to set up payments for Summer Camp. Dates for camp are July 15th-21st For those of you planning on attending this year the fee is $275 per scout. If we all pay in full before May 18th we are eligible for a 5% discount. So since saving every little bit helps, we will have the following payment schedule.

Due Date Amount
Monday, January 30th $25.00
Monday, February 20th $50.00
Monday, March 19th $50.00
Monday, April 16th $75.00
Monday, May 14th $75.00

I hope this breaks it down in manageable amounts. We as a troop have deadlines for these payments in order to get our discount. I will need to take them down to the scout shop, so we really will need them on or before the dates above. I will try to be at the beginning of each meeting listed above to gather payments.

If your scout has enough in his account to pay for camp and you want the entire amount to be paid out of his account please let me know so I can make a note of it and tell Chris Nicol. If you need the balance of your scout’s account please contact Chris Nicol.

Thank you in advance for your help. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Jodie
